Privacy Policy
TRIPWIRE news services is interested in giving information to you, not collecting information about you.
- Cookies are things we snack on while writing copy, not download to your machine to track where you have been or go on the web. We do not partner with or have special relationships with any ad server company.
- The number and type of accesses to pages is tracked by the (otherwise fairly generic) web server software in order to know the level of interest in various of our reports; that information comes to us only in the form of an aggregated report.
- If you click on the google ads which might present on our site (if google would stop advocating against anything with firearms and let us get revenue to recover the cost of operating the site...) then the google software may track the click through. We never see it. Talk with Google. (If you do, then tell them to stop advocating against anything with firearms on the pages and let us get revenue to recover the cost of operating this site ... :-)
- On the newsletter subscription page (where you you can subscribe to the snailmail version of our full newsletter) any names given are not stored on this web site, they are instead dropped from here as soon as inserted into the off-site list management system for subscribers. All reasonable and appropriate measures have been taken to protect against the loss, misuse or alteration of any information that you may choose to provide us as a subscriber. (As a separate matter, Tripwire's policy on subscriber lists is simple: we don't give them out, and we only use them for the purpose you know up front: sending news, alerts and background information on the politics of firearms and civil rights in Maryland.) We ask for your email address in that signup script in order to send a confirmation that the address is valid.
- Separately you may elect to respond to our subscription confirmation note by having us add you to the MDRKBA list, which sends out an electronic notice of important developments, typically during elections or legislative session. (Low volume - high yield.) MDRKBA is entirely an opt-in list, and no spam whatsoever. As with all the other information you may have provided, we don't give it out, period.
